The Tasman country music star was one of 10 finalists for International Artist at Australia's 2012 Musicoz Awards, which celebrates the best of independent music.
"It's not every day a Nelsonian's strutting the red carpet,'' Cook said from Sydney after the event. "I don't think it'll happen too many times in my life.
"To live in Nelson and do these things is always a buzz. I wander around being a mum in Nelson and the next day I fly away. It's good to live in both those worlds.
Even though I didn't win it was such a big buzz to hear my song and see me up on the big screen at the ceremony.''
